This is a twist on the classic "Million Dollar Homepage" idea: a 1000×1000 grid of individually-ownable pixels. Buy a cell for ten cents, paint it any color you like, and keep it on the board forever, for anyone to see — that's the whole idea behind the name.
Most of every purchase goes straight toward my tuition. The rest is reinvested into promoting this page, so more people discover it, more pixels get claimed, and the board actually fills up — think of that slice as buying a small marketing push for the project. The split above is of the pixel total — see below for the one thing added on top of it.
Stripe, the payment processor, takes a cut of every transaction — 2.9% + $0.30 per charge. Rather than quietly folding that into the pixel price, it's shown as its own line item at checkout. The 80/20 split above applies to the pixel total only, not this fee.
At checkout, you can add a link for +20% — visitors who click any cell in your purchase get sent to a URL of your choice. It's one link for the whole order, not per pixel, so it's meant for a logo or block of cells, not scattered single cells. Same content rule applies: a link to anything illegal, malicious, or abusive gets removed and refunded, same as any other content violation.
Purchases are periodically compiled into a short video and posted on social media, using the caption and music preference you leave at checkout. Promote your business, make it a joke, whatever — it's your pixels. The one rule: any caption, music request, or pixel art that's sexual, hateful, or otherwise offensive will be removed from the board and that purchase fully refunded.
By selecting a cell, completing checkout, or otherwise using this site, you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What you're buying. A purchase gets you the right to display a color on one or more 1×1 cells of the grid, tied to your order. It is a digital display right only — not real property, not a security, not a physical good, and it carries no ownership, equity, or other interest in this project.
Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. The price shown at checkout (pixel total + the disclosed Stripe processing fee) is the full price. Sales are final except as described under "Content rules" below or where refund is required by applicable law.
Content rules. Colors, patterns, captions, and music preferences submitted at checkout may not be illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, harassing, or infringing on anyone else's rights. Violating content may be removed from the board at any time and the purchase refunded, at our discretion.
Purchase videos. Orders are periodically compiled into short recap videos posted to social media. By submitting a caption or music preference, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that text and your cells' appearance in such videos and related promotion.
Permanence. Your cells are yours to keep — the whole point of this project is a board that stays as people paint it, and that's the intent for as long as the site is up. As with any small, independently-run site, standard legal language applies: it's provided without a formal uptime warranty, the usual fine print for a one-person project rather than a sign we expect anything to go wrong.
Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability for any claim relating to the site or a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question.
Eligibility. You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to enter a binding contract, or have a parent/guardian's permission, to make a purchase.
Changes. These terms may be updated from time to time; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
What's collected. Your chosen cells and colors, and any caption or music preference you submit, are stored against your order. Stripe Checkout separately collects your email and payment details to process the charge — we receive your email and payment status back, but your card number never touches this site or its database.
How it's used. Solely to record and fulfill your order, follow up about it if needed, and (if you opted in with a caption/music preference) produce the purchase recap video described above.
Sharing. Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site — currently Stripe for payments and a database host for storage. It is not sold or shared for advertising.
Retention. Order data is kept as long as needed for record-keeping and to honor the permanence of purchased cells.
Contact. Questions about these terms, a privacy request, or a content removal — email legal@keepapixel.com.
Click and drag anywhere on the image to move the whole thing at once — no need to rebuild it cell by cell. The arrow pad in the bottom-left corner of the canvas does the same thing.
